Which Iranian documents do you translate?
Iranian paperwork rarely maps one-to-one onto the document an Australian form asks for. Here is what each one is, and what people send it for.
- Shenasnameh (شناسنامه) — the identity booklet recording your birth, parents, marriage and children. Visa and university applications accept it where they ask for a birth certificate.
- Kart-e melli (کارت ملی) — the national identity card, translated alongside the shenasnameh so names and dates can be cross-checked.
- Marriage booklet (عقدنامه) — issued at the ceremony and registered afterwards. Partner visa applications use it as proof the marriage is legally recognised in Iran.
- Divorce certificate (طلاقنامه) — needed where a partner or family application has to show that an earlier marriage ended.
- Police clearance (گواهی عدم سوء پیشینه) — the certificate showing no criminal record in Iran. It is translated for the character checks in permanent visa applications.
- Military service card (کارت پایان خدمت) — the card confirming service is complete. It appears in visa files as identity evidence, and as the explanation for a gap between study and work.
- Driver licence (گواهینامه رانندگی) — VicRoads requires a licence that is not in English to be translated by a NAATI accredited translator, or by your country’s consulate in Australia.
- Degree and transcripts (دانشنامه، ریزنمرات) — universities and skills assessing authorities ask for the degree certificate and the marks sheet for every semester. Transcripts are priced per semester.
What does the court need if your marriage certificate is not in English?
A divorce application needs more than a translation. The Federal Circuit and Family Court (the court that handles divorce) requires the person who did the translation to swear an affidavit, filed at the same time as the application.
- What the affidavit contains — a copy of the original certificate, the translation, and the translator’s qualifications, set out on the court’s own Affidavit Translation of Marriage Certificate form.
- Who swears it — the translator, not you. It has to be sworn or affirmed before a Justice of the Peace or a lawyer.
- When it is filed — with the Application for Divorce, not after it. Both documents are uploaded together on the Commonwealth Courts Portal.
- What we do — translate the certificate, complete the affidavit setting out the NAATI credential the court asks for, and arrange the Justice of the Peace or lawyer to swear it. You receive a document ready to file, for a fixed $120.

Do I need a NAATI translation for my Australian visa?
Yes. The Department of Home Affairs requires non-English documents to be accompanied by an English translation. Where a translation is completed in Australia, it must be done by a NAATI-credentialled translator, which is what we provide, so your translation meets the Department’s requirements.
How fast will I get my translation?
Standard turnaround is 48 hours from payment. Express is 24 hours (+50% of your order total). Your translation arrives as a certified PDF by email.
Can I get a printed copy?
Your translation is delivered as a certified PDF with the NAATI translator’s number, signature, date and verification QR code. Home Affairs, universities, banks and VicRoads accept the PDF, so most applications need no paper at all. If someone does ask you for a printed copy, print the PDF yourself. It carries the same certification, and the QR code can be checked against the original.
Are your translations accepted everywhere?
